Bent Vidar Eilertsen
Bent is the founder of Senja Lodge & Mountainguides, and is also the owner and manager of the company.
These days he is on the UIAGM / IVBV / IFMGA international mountainguide course program in NORTIND in Norway, and will be a fully qualified international mountain guide within the next years.
Bent is a 39 year old mountain man from the North of Norway. He grew up in Målselv in the mid Troms on the mainland east of Senja island. Here he has been trekking, skiing and climbing in these mountains from he was a child.
He is a complete multiple mountaineer with passion for the wide spectra of alpine life. He uses most of the year to climb rock and alpine routes summer and winter, ice climbing, skiing and ski mountaineering, kayak paddling and other mountain activities, both in Norway and other places trough out the world. Bent wrote the ski-guide for Senja in the book "Toppturer i Norge" - Friflyt.
He is also a qualified rock climbing and glacier instructor in NF (Norsk Fjellsportforum - the national mountain instructor qualification). He is a Sport climbing and indoor climbing instructor in NKF (Norways Climbing Association). He is a summer and winter guide in DNT (Norways Hiking Assosiation). Bent is also working within the Alpine Rescue group in Lyngen. He is a solid, good telemarkskier and qualified Telemark ski instruktor NSF (Trener 1 - Norways Ski Association), and he is also a qualified rafting instructor and have the WRT (White Water Rescue Technician) course.
High peaks around the world have been visited by Bent for years; he has climbed Aconcagua (6962 moh), Elbrus (5642 moh) and Kilimanjaro (5895 moh), the highest peaks in three continents, to name a few peaks. Trips to the European alps summers and winters, and to some warm sport climbing spots, is yearly on the schedule.
Bent has been skiing in Lyngen, Kvaløya, Senja, Mid Troms, Narvik, Lofoten, Jotunheimen, Hemsedal, Svalbard/Spitsbergen (Norway), Riksgrensen, Abisko, Kebnekaise (Sweden), Levi (Finland), Garmisch (Germany), Badgastein, Sportgastein (Austria), Zermatt, Verbier (Svitzerland), Chamonix, La Grave, Alp d`hues, Serre Chevalier, Val d`isere, Tignes, Val Torance (France), Sestriere, Courmayeur (Italy), Sierra Nevada (Spain), Cuacasus (Russia), Sarajevo (Bosnia), Tetovo (Macedonia), Borovets (Bulgaria), Kranjska Gora (Slovenia), and more.
He has been climbing in Lyngen, Kvaløya, Senja, Mid Troms, Lofoten, Ofoten, Jotunheimen, Romsdal (Norway), Kebnekaise (Sweden), Chamonix, La Grave, Verdon, Calanques (France), Sardinia (Italy), El Chorro, Tarifa (Spain), Caucasus (Russia), Tanzania (Africa), Andes (South America), and more.
Bent also has almost ten years of experience as an officer in the Norwegian Army in different demanding jobs both on a national level and in international conflicts trough out the world. He has been working as a freelance guide and instructor in North and South Norway, Svalbard/Spitsbergen and Kebnekaise in Sweden.
The Alaskan Malamute dog Yeti is Bent`s long life mountain friend. He has been with him on almost every trips trough out his first years. He is a wise and fantastic dog, so calm and lovely towards everybody. Yeti is part of the staff, but mostly he is sleeping under the table in the Lodge, when he is not on out door- adventures.
